Colorado to Louisiana - September 2011

February 27th, 2012 | No Comments

The road was narrow and twisty as it was following a small creek. Old adobe houses and rustic buildings were along the road for the first few miles as well as an old Mission Church which I made a short stop at, but when the road left the creek there was nothing. I only crossed paths with one pickup truck in 50 miles along that stretch of road. I had never felt so isolated, it seemed like hours traveling down that stretch of road, but I was in the land of enchantment and when I stopped to pee there were Indian paintbrush flowers blooming on the roadside and I didn’t really feel alone, I felt alive. Apple Store and the Iphone, not so green or good… this is a fix it yourself story too!

September 27th, 2011 | No Comments

My Iphone 4 was less than a year old and I could no longer hear out of the regular speaker, so I had to use a headset or the “speaker phone” to be able to hear. I took my phone to the local At&t store to get it checked, but they told me that I had to take it in to the Apple Store. [...] Continue Reading…

The Buffalo Chip Campground

May 23rd, 2011 | No Comments

In August 2010 we rode our bikes 1500 miles, from Hammond Louisiana to Sturgis South Dakota for the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. We wanted to be in the center of the action and get the complete experience of the rally so we stayed at the Buffalo Chip Campground. Our group consisted of three guys, Craig on his Road King Police bike, me on my standard Road King and Bernie drove his Chevy pickup truck with most of the camping gear . I can’t tell you how much we had looked forward to this trip and staying at the Chip, we certainly had a lot of expectations. [...] Continue Reading…

Discombobulated - September 22, 2010

September 28th, 2010 | No Comments

This was a crazy year, my brother David and I had made a ride in May, but we didn’t get our mid summer ride in because I had planned a trip to Sturgis in mid August. The time constraints that put on my schedule as well as the fact that he was not working because of the failed economy affected our ability to schedule more rides. [...] Continue Reading…

Planning Our Trip to Sturgis - 2010 Part 1

April 17th, 2010 | 1 Comment

My buddy Craig and I decided it was finally time for a real road trip from our southern location, one that every biker or miker (see article in Ramblings) needs to make at least once in your life time. Perhaps this would be the ride that lets us graduate to full fledged bikers, I mean you need to have a serious ride like this under your belt, or a wife or girlfriend with a rose tattoo on her boob with your initials on it to be a real biker, right? Well since the tattoo thing is out of our hands, I think this ride may do the job since the route we are planning is about 1700 miles one way. Fortunately for us our friend Bernie who doesn’t ride wants to come along with us as our escort, which will allow us to pack more gear for our camping adventure at the Buffalo Chip campground as well as be there for us in case one of our bikes can’t make the journey.

There will be many edits to this article as we plan our trip and we really need your comments and suggestions on this one because… well we just need them. [...] Continue Reading…
